About
Emile Boullineau
Global Risk Management Executive & Independent Researcher
Emile Boullineau is a British-South African senior executive with more than 25 years of international experience in global risk management and institutional governance. He currently serves as Head of Risk.
His independent research investigates the “human element” of risk – specifically, the cognitive processes that cause individuals and AI systems to misclassify ambiguous data as moral violations. Although his executive risk work has informed his approach, Judgmentalism.org is entirely separate from his professional role.
Research Focus: Judgmentalism.org
Judgmentalism.org is an autonomous intellectual endeavour and the permanent home for his original theories and empirical work. Its central concern is why individuals fail to integrate context, leading to Contextual Moderation Failure (CMF), and why AI systems misclassify ambiguous data as moral violations.
Contributions
Full details and preprints are available in the Research section.
Motivated Violation Construction (MVC) (2026 preprint) – Moral Violations Are Made, Not Found
A framework challenging the assumption that moral violations are detected in behaviour. It argues that observers actively construct violations from ambiguous actions to justify pre-existing negative evaluations, shifting the focus from evaluation to classification.
Trait Judgmentalism (2025 preprint) – Contextual Moderation Failure and the Architecture of Evaluative Rigidity
A stable disposition of rigid, negatively biased standards that resist contextual moderation (Contextual Moderation Failure / CMF). CMF is defined as a disruption of System 2 reflective integration following intuitive appraisal.
The Violation Construction Index (VCI) (2026)
A specialised metric developed to audit classification-stage bias in Large Language Models (LLMs), introduced in the research proposal Does AI Detect Moral Violations or Construct Them?
